I have been wanting to blog for sometime, well, since I finished my full-time job as a teacher of the Performing Arts. For most of my life, one way or another, I have been involved with the Performing Arts either as a performer, stage director, composer and musical arranger but mostly as a teacher.
I’m now lucky enough to coach from my own studio on a one to one basis. I have clients of all ages who want to sing and act and composer their own music. I’m afraid I’ll never be offering dance lessons.
Along with coaching I try and attend a variety of performances. I have pretty eclectic tastes, I love opera, theatre, musical theatre, classical music and cinema. We can see some great performances now that cinemas are streaming broadcasts from the West End, The National Theatre, Stratford, The Royal Opera House, ENO and the Met – and I’m sure much more to come.
So I’d like to share some of my thoughts, and ones that I’ve nicked from various folks over the years, about life and the world of performing arts and why they are so important to us
